Dragons and Donuts – It started with a quest
Already within a few interactions with trained Dragon Dreaming facilitators/trainers, the philosophy and methodology really spook to me. And left me, to start with, with more questions than answers.
I managed to practically apply what I had learned. But there was always this little voice: There is much more to it. I’m missing fundamental insights.
Unfortunatly, there were almost no (standard) trainings provided, like Introduction courses, Intensives or even train the trainer courses. And the few I found, I was not able to attend.
During the days in Estonia in October 2024, one of the last travels of John Croft, the dream of an empty centred organisation were discussed and with it, how a learning journey could be structured, how you have and keep wisdom keepers and maintain the level of knowledge and quality within the community. Open source shouldn’t mean ‘no minimum level required’.
With all these questions, my (personal) quest started. How did I build on it? I got in contact with the German network, invited Annett to our doughnut team in the Achterhoek, traveled to Frankfurt, to the Pyrenees, kept contact with de global network, the Estonian group, some of the French community, contacted Felipe, Lizandra and others… And, finally, started to organise my own learning journey through South America, now followed up by New Zealand and Australia – the source for Dragon Dreaming.
On the other hand, I am deeply interested in Doughnut Economics, modeled by Kate Raworth and now further developed by DEAL (Doughnut Econmic Action Lab). Also there, I am a member of the internatioenal community. During meetings provided via Rob, I learned how differently DE is applied internationally, certainly at the global South.
And, finally, via my own work, the idea developed, that DE is about WHAT to change and DrDr about HOW to do it, certainly for the transitions so hardly needed. In this context, the idea of making my (own) workbook found its seeds.
Let’s see and find out!
